The Young Leaders Scholarship does not offer a reduction in fees, as the scholarship invests directly in each girl’s development, providing rich opportunities to grow as confident, compassionate and courageous young leaders.

Eligibility

  • You must apply online for this scholarship
  • All pupils who successfully pass the 11+ Entrance Examination are eligible
  • A video statement by the pupil should be included with the application that supports their suitability for the scholarship.  We will not accept an application without an accompanying video.

Selection process

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted after the Entrance Examination. 

Pupils who have been shortlisted will be invited to attend an interview during the week commencing 11th January 2027. Interviews will include a discussion about a range of different subjects to show a love of learning.

Young Leaders Scholar benefits

Scholars will take part in a carefully designed programme that nurtures academic ambition, leadership, confidence and a strong moral compass. Opportunities include:

  • Charity & Service Leadership: support to design and lead fundraising projects and community initiatives, developing empathy, agency and teamwork
  • Public Speaking: specialist guidance and opportunities to present at internal and external events to a wide range of audiences
  • In achool Ambassadorship: active involvement in school events and opportunities to mentor younger girls in the school
  • Small group mentoring with the Head of Middle School: regular nurturing sessions designed to support each scholar’s personal and academic growth. These sessions will help girls set meaningful goals, reflect on progress and ensure they are challenged, stretched and thriving throughout their scholarship journey
  • GDST Networking: opportunities to connect with like-minded pupils across the GDST and take part in cross-school events and initiatives.

This scholarship empowers girls to lead with integrity, think boldly, act kindly and make a lasting difference, within Bromley High School and beyond.

What skills should I have to be a Young Leaders Scholar?

Essential:

  • Curiosity: a genuine enthusiasm for questioning, exploring ideas, and approaching new challenges with imagination
  • Compassion: commitment to helping others through charity work, volunteering, and kindness in action
  • Courage: confidence in public speaking and willingness to lead, advocate and stand up for causes they believe in.
Desirable:

  • Seek out and propose opportunities to enhance the presence of public speaking and debate within the school environment
  • Engage with the wider school community, and provide support in organising and facilitating activities within the scholarship team, fostering a cooperative atmosphere
  • Display a broader interest in various subjects, connecting them to global events and issues
  • Demonstrate the ability to think creatively and beyond conventional methods in addressing complex topics and debates.
