This week, Year 12 Further Mathematics students attended the Further Maths Immersion Day at Murray Edwards College, part of the University of Cambridge. This prestigious event offered a valuable insight into life as a Cambridge undergraduate, combining academic challenge with an inspiring introduction to university study.

Throughout the day, students engaged directly with Cambridge academics and current Maths and STEM undergraduates, gaining first-hand perspectives on studying at one of the world’s leading universities. Collaborative problem-solving sessions encouraged them to stretch their mathematical thinking, while academic taster workshops provided a glimpse into the depth and rigour of degree-level study.

Over lunch, students explored a range of mathematical and scientific degree pathways in conversation with undergraduates and peers from across the Girls’ Day School Trust. The day concluded with a guided tour of the college, including the impressive New Hall Art Collection.

The experience left students inspired, informed and excited about the possibilities ahead in their mathematical journeys.
