Year 6 pupils embarked on an unforgettable residential trip to France this term, swapping their school uniforms for adventure gear as they spent a week immersed in the beauty of the French countryside.

From Market Stalls to Medieval Walls

Early in the week, pupils put their French skills into practice at a local market, confidently conversing with stallholders as they selected gifts. A visit to a local farm proved equally enjoyable, with the opportunity to feed the animals standing out as a highlight for many.

The trip also brought history vividly to life. A visit to the iconic Mont-Saint-Michel, a UNESCO World Heritage site, offered breathtaking views across the bay and a memorable glimpse into France’s rich past. Later in the week, pupils explored the impressive Château de Fougères, one of Europe’s largest medieval fortresses, where they enjoyed discovering its ancient ramparts and soaking up the atmosphere.

Zip-lines and Zest

Back at the Château, the activities continued to inspire excitement and enthusiasm. From zip-lining and fencing to archery, pupils embraced every challenge with energy and determination. Throughout the week, there were many opportunities to build teamwork, resilience and confidence, with pupils encouraging one another and celebrating each other’s achievements.

As always, the trip concluded in style with a lively final-night disco, followed by hot chocolate – a much-loved Bromley High School tradition.

A Journey to Remember

The residential was about far more than travel; it was a chance for pupils to step outside their comfort zones and grow in confidence. Throughout the week, they demonstrated courage in trying new activities, compassion in supporting one another, and curiosity about the world around them.

The trip was a wonderful success, creating memories that will stay with Year 6 for years to come – truly magnifique!
