Year 7 pupils attended a two hour animation workshop with Jennifer Kidd, where they learned how to make a stop motion animation puppet with a box of materials they were sent beforehand.

Jennifer Kidd is a prop maker and set dresser and has worked in the animation industry since studying a Masters in Animation at the Royal College of Arts in London. Her work has been features in the Japanese animated film Isle of Dogs, Rag ‘n’ Bone Man’s recent music video, and many other television shows.

As well as the workshop, the pupils were also sent filmed tutorials on how to make and animate their puppets.

“While attending the workshop, we learned that the animation industry is a very creative industry where everyone works together to share their ideas. We also learned that you can easily change your roles, for example you could be making the puppets clothes one year and be modelling the puppets the next year. I can’t wait to finish making my puppet so that I can animate it!”  Lily (Year 7)
