Today, our school community gathered for an empowering Women’s Health Assembly. The session tackled critical, real-world issues surrounding women’s health, shedding light on medical misogyny, the length of time women face to gain diagnosis for conditions like endometriosis, and the alarming 50% higher rate of misdiagnosis women experience following a heart attack.
The assembly also addressed how bias and data disparities in healthcare and AI models perpetuate these systemic inequalities, reminding our students that they must always feel empowered as the experts of their own bodies. Highlighting initiatives like ‘Jess’s Rule’, pupils were encouraged to advocate for their health and never settle when symptoms are dismissed.
Building on these vital conversations, we are delighted to introduce our newly appointed Year 12 Women’s Health Ambassadors. These dedicated Sixth Form leaders will undergo specialised training in key areas of female health, equipping them to champion health literacy and open dialogue across all year groups.
Beyond leading our monthly Women’s Health Society sessions on key age appropriate topics, our ambassadors will establish a dedicated peer Buddy System within the Wellbeing Hub specifically to support our Year 7 and Year 8 pupils as they navigate their early senior school years.
By tackling taboo subjects head-on and fostering a supportive, informative environment, we are ensuring our girls grow up equipped with the knowledge, language, and confidence to advocate for their wellbeing both inside and outside of school.
