Earlier this week our Year 3 pupils enjoyed releasing their butterflies into the wild.
Coming back after half-term, the girls were delighted to find that their caterpillars had arrived. They watched them grow rapidly, appearing to double in size every day until they heaved themselves to the top of the pots to form chrysalises. After only four days, they were amazed to discover that some of the butterflies had started to emerge until they eventually had 20 beautiful painted lady butterflies to release.
“I’ve never held a butterfly before. It wasn’t tickly at all. When I looked at it, it felt special to me. I named it ‘Fluttery’.”Anika, Year 3
