Five Year 12 Classicists visited the University of Oxford on an insightful Latin and Classical Civilisation department trip with students from Wilson’s School in Wallington.

We then had some interview practice with a Classics lecturer and approached a text which could be given in an Oxford interview to see how we would tackle it.
In the afternoon, we had lunch in college and had the opportunity to attend a lecture hosted by Llewelyn Morgan. We discussed the topic ‘Do Gods Cry?’ and looked through some interesting pieces of Roman literature which support this theory. The lecture was very informative and it was a great experience.
Finally, we were toured around Wadham College by our teacher Miss Nicholls who is an alumna, where we gained insight into the benefits of being a member of Oxford University. We were also shown some of the sights of Oxford such as The Covered Market and the Radcliffe Camera.
“The trip has helped us to feel less daunted by the idea of applying to university, as well as removing any stereotypes we might have had about what Oxford students are like.”
