Bromley High School GDST is pleased to announce an outstanding set of A level results achieved by this year’s Upper Sixth pupils, who attained an impressive 61% A* and A grades and secured placements at a range of prestigious universities in the UK and internationally. When considering A* to B grades achieved, this percentage increases to 86%. This has resulted in 97% of pupils successfully gaining their preferred choice of university.
Headmistress, Emily Codling, commented: “We are celebrating an excellent set of A level results, and I congratulate all our pupils who should be very proud of themselves. Each of them has worked incredibly hard to achieve these results and carve out their next steps, whether that’s a world-class university, an international experience or an esteemed apprenticeship. They are also leaving school with the additional skills, experiences and confidence that a Bromley High School education provides.”
Bromley High School pupils are forging bright futures in a range of subject areas and industries:
- STEM success: Forty per cent of pupils are embarking on STEM courses (including Mathematics, Computer science, Natural Sciences and Biology) at universities such as Durham and Imperial College London.
- Future doctors: Ten per cent of our Upper Sixth cohort applied for medical and dentistry degrees, with a 100% success rate in securing their places at university.
- Heads for business: Pupils continue to find success in business, economics, finance and accountancy with nearly one in five (19%) securing places at distinguished universities to study these subjects, and one pupil beginning a degree apprenticeship at KPMG.
- Keeping up with modern foreign languages: All language students secured their places to read Modern Foreign Languages, bucking a national trend which sees a decline in the uptake of languages at university.
- Readying for creative and design industries: Pupils have secured their places in a range of creative and practical courses such as Graphic Design, Film Production, Photography and Industrial Design at well-regarded institutions, such as Central St Martins and Loughborough University.
- Taking international pathways: Continuing the tradition of pupils pursuing higher education abroad, the school has seen pupils take up places at the University of Nicosia in Cyprus and at the prestigious Vanderbilt University (a top 20 US university). Pupils also received offers from other renowned US institutions including the University of North Carolina, Rice University, SMU and William & Mary.
Headmistress, Emily Codling, adds: “Our Upper Sixth pupils’ next steps are varied and exciting. They demonstrate that a Bromley High School pupil can successfully follow their own pathway in whatever field they wish to pursue. We all wish our incredible pupils the very best of luck for the future.”
Other popular choices for pupils’ further education include English Literature and History, Politics and Geography – reflecting a strong commitment and curiosity for current affairs.
