Last week, Year 11 Classics pupils enjoyed their study day at the British Museum. They visited the women’s exhibition on the ‘Divine to the Demonic’.

This allowed them to see visual sources (such as a painting of Circe and a statue of the goddess Athena) for their classics work in person and in turn to visualise them with more ease. The day expanded their knowledge on how women have played a significant part in many religions throughout history and the world despite their often lack of representation.

They later attended multiple lectures within the museum ranging from portrayals of Helen and Cleopatra to Athenian vases to the exploration of “dangerous” women like Agrippina the Younger.
