Pupils Darcey and Amelie (Year 11 and Lower Sixth) have been placed in the top 25 teams out of 120 in the Oxford Schools’ Debating Finals, the largest debating competition in the UK for students aged between 14 and 18.

They debated topics such as the harms of child social media apps, the implementation of universal basic income, how citizen journalism has impacted the world and if parents should inflate their child’s opinions of their abilities.

Placing second twice and first once, they finished in the top 20% of the biggest schools competition on the debating circuit. Congratulations to them both!

“Overall, it was a fantastic trip, and we were very grateful for the support we received from Dr and Mrs Christie throughout the competition. Both Amelie and I particularly enjoyed exploring Oxford in our breaks.” Darcey, Year 11
