Congratulations to two very talented Year 8 Music Scholars, Francesca and Ameli, for their recent musical successes; both girls performed extremely well in the Beckenham Music Festival, one of the largest amateur competitive performing arts festivals in the south-east of England. In addition, Francesca has been selected for the National Youth Girls’ Choir, and Ameli has just received a Distinction in her ARSM Piano Diploma.

National Youth Choir of Great Britain: Girls’ Choir

“Following an online audition, I am thrilled to be accepted into the National Youth Girls’ Choir (NYGC). It’s a great opportunity to participate in a large vocal ensemble. I am excited to see where this path leads.

Beckenham Music Festival: 2nd place (Honours)

“I enjoyed taking part in the Beckenham Music Festival (Piano + Violin Classes), it is nice to be back in the swing of participating in live concerts/competitions. Following my performance in the piano class, I was requested by the adjudicator to play my piece alongside a professional vocalist as a demonstration. The feedback from the adjudicator was very valuable.”

Beckenham Music Festival: 3 Cups

“After performing in the Chopin (no age limit) Section, Sonatina/ Sonata Age 12-15 Section and Recital Age 13 Section, I got 1st Place in all of them and got the Chopin Cup, Gwladys Pumfrey Cup and Eira Vaughan Trophy. The last cup is for the participant amongst the under 13s, who got the highest mark this year.

The adjudicator was Ms Nancy Litten, the chair of EPTA in Kent (pictured with Amelie), gave me great feedback to work on my pieces and she will give me regular masterclasses soon!

I enjoyed the Beckenham Festival a lot and hoping to participate next year too.”

In addition to Ameli’s success in the Beckenham Festival, she has just achieved a Distinction in her ARSM Diploma on piano. Well done Ameli!
