During the last two weeks, pupils have been engaging in a range of activities to show support for COP26, the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference held in Glasgow.

To launch the fortnight, Year 12 pupils Charlotte and Hannah wrote and led an insightful assembly, reminding us of the current issues surrounding our changing climate.

Pupils were invited to enter the ‘Recyclable Fashion Show’ which showcases a collection of innovative, yet beautiful designs.

Pupils have been busy filling up a pledge wall as well as considering the importance of a collective response to climate change issues, researching different laws within Britain, the EU and globally.

Pupils also engaged in COP26 during their academic lessons, with Year 10 pupils looking at bioplastics during their DT lessons, Year 8 pupils carrying out their own climate change summit in Geography and Year 12 Spanish students watching Javier Bardem’s documentary about the Antarctic and Greenpeace.

Support for COP26 was  also demonstrated on ‘Green Day’ by both pupils and staff.

The reception area was also full of wonderful cakes for the Bromley High COP26 Bake Off. The cakes sold at break times raised £160 for Friends of the Earth.

It has been a wonderful fortnight and we look forward to a greener future!
