We were pleased to welcome chemical engineer Jason Meers, who spoke about the dramatic increase in carbon emissions and the global effect it is having.

Jason joined INEOS in February 2019, the UK’s largest privately owned company with global business activities across a wide range of sectors, but with a focus on and heritage in chemical production. In his current role, Jason is the CFO and a board member of Project One.

During the lecture, Jason spoke of the need for large companies to implement more sustainable practices to cut global carbon emissions.

“The session was very interactive with interesting discussions on a range of subjects to do with climate change, including plastic waste. This was very thought provoking as we were asked about our own plastic use and any methods we use to reduce our carbon emissions. One pupil commented about ‘using a tree planting app to reduce carbon footprint’. Overall, this was a great way to get us involved in thinking about the most important aspects of climate change and what we can do to help.”  Lara, Year 13 pupil

Jason has a first-class Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Loughborough University and an MBA from Erasmus University in The Netherlands. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers, a Chartered Engineer, and a Chartered Financial Analyst.
