Our Senior 1st XI hockey team continue their remarkable winning streak, by securing first place in the GDST Hockey Finals at Nottingham High School after qualifying 2 weeks ago.
The team started off with a match against Howell’s where we secured a 5-0 win with some great goals from short corners. The next match, against Wimbledon was a close competition where they went 1-0 down at the start but managed to bring it back to a 2-1 win with an excellent goal from Sofia and a great assist from Liv in the last play off the game.
After gaining a 5-0 win against Nottingham, they were placed first in the pool stages and advanced to the semi finals where they played Norwich. Again, they played really well as a team and came away with an amazing 4-0 win. The team were very clinical in the D and had a very strong press which didn’t allow Norwich out of our attacking half very often. This moved them on to the finals where they played Wimbledon again. This time keeping a clean sheet with strong defending from Susy, Evie and Liv and two brilliant goals, both from Amelie, they secured a 2-0 win.
“The team scored a total of 18 goals and conceded only 1 goal throughout the whole day, with the goal scorers Amelie, Sasha, Jemma and Sofia. Having developed extremely well as a team as the day went on, we became stronger with every game which led to us going home as Trust Rally champions.”Alice, Year 13 pupil & Team Captain
Last week the team also won the U18 Hockey County Finals at Sevenoaks School, making it a hugely successful term for our hockey players. Congratulations to the team!
