Admissions FAQs

How many forms are there in the Senior School?

We are four form entry, with a maximum of 24 students in a form.

How many external places are available at 11+ entry?

Entry is competitive and we have more applications than places.

The number of external places varies depending on our own Junior School Year 6 who transfer automatically to the Senior School.

Do you admit pupils in Years 8, 9 or 10?

If you are interested in your daughter joining us in Years 8 to 10, please contact the Admissions Registrar, Mrs Lisa Clarke who will be happy to organise an academic assessment and interview.

What is the application deadline for 11+ entry?

The closing date for 11+ entry is Friday 20th November 2020.

When is the 11+ assessment examination and what does it involve?

The 11+ 2021 Entrance Examination is Saturday 9th January 2021.

All candidates are assessed in verbal, non verbal, quantitative and spatial reasoning, a creative writing paper and short mathematics extension paper.

For candidates requiring extra time, this is available to students sitting the Entrance Examination if they have an Educational Psychologist report. Information can be submitted as part of the application process.

We do not provide practice papers.

How do I apply for a scholarship?

Scholarships are awarded at 11+ entry in recognition of exceptional academic, artistic, musical or sporting ability. Awards are made without regard to parental income.

To apply for a Scholarship, please return a completed scholarship application form, by the closing date, 20th November 2020 to admissions@bro.gdst.net

Academic scholarships are awarded on performance in our 11+ Entrance Examination. A scholarship application form is not required.

How do I apply for a bursary?

We award a limited number of bursaries, offering financial assistance with fees for girls entering Year 7 or Sixth Form. These are awarded on the basis of academic excellence combined with financial need.

All applications for bursaries will be means tested and assessed by the Bursary team at the GDST’s Head Office. To apply for a bursary, please apply online and indicate on the application form that you are interested in a bursary.
