Congratulations to our Year 9 football team who successfully won the Charles Darwin Invitational seven aside Football Tournament earlier this week.
They began the tournament with a 1-0 win against Babington House, setting them off to a great start. Going straight into their second game against the hosting team, Charles Darwin School, they won again 2-0. Their third game against Langley Park School for Girls was a tough competition, however with determination they drew 0-0.
Next they played Chislehurst School for Girls, again another challenging game that resulted in 0-0, placing them in the semi-finals of the tournament. Following a great game against Bonus Pastor Catholic College, they won 3-2 on penalties by Zara, Rosie and Sophie.
Their final game of the day and the tournament final was against Darrick Wood School. Again, this game was settled by penalties with two exceptional saves by goalkeeper Sybil and two great penalties, winning the match 2-1.
“We were very pleased with the outcome of the tournament and feel very proud of each and every member of the team. Everyone played to their very best ability and really came together as a team. By the end we had shown determination, resilience and overall, an outstanding attitude towards our matches. Well, done to everyone who played!”Rosie Rowe, Team Captain and Year 9 pupil
