Year 9 pupils Antonia and Ella were presented with an innovative architectural award by the Mayor of London at City Hall, for their entries to the Ministry of Building Innovation & Education (MOBIE) design challenge.

MOBIE was founded by TV presenter and architect George Clarke, who set the challenge to inspire young students to share their ideas on the future of homes, places and the built environment.

The girls learnt about different career paths linking to architecture, how various skills can be used in the architectural industry and the importance of communication.

Congratulations to both Antonia and Ella!

“As well as meeting the Mayor, we also met other professionals who work in the built environment to gain insight into the industry. We talked to Cesar Fragachan who is an architect for Zaha Hadid, specialising in architecture and computer modelling, Tasneem Khan who is an apprentice for Greater London authority, Professor David Tann who is a Dean for University of East London and Denise Stephenson who is a Founder of Reach out to Kids and is in Planning Law. We also spoke to a structural engineer. Prize winners Antonia and Ella, Year 9
