Earlier this month, Year 8 pupil Luciana competed in the National Cross Country Relay Championships in Mansfield for the Blackheath and Bromley Harriers. Luciana ran the last leg, securing the team fifth place, and running the course in the third fastest time in her race.

The competition follows a successful autumn of athletics for Luciana.  In September, she took part in the U13 Kent County Championships winning silver in both the 1200m (3:52.08) and the 800m (2:21.21) and placing her in the top 10 nationally for her age group.  She also ran a 1500m athletics meeting on track in a time of 4:58.9, which is a good personal best.

Luciana also finished first in the Bromley Borough Mini Marathon trials, earning a place to represent Bromley in the London Mini Marathon.

She was selected for the Blackheath and Bromley Harriers road relay team, running at the ERRA National Road Relays in Sutton Coldfield at the beginning of October.  Luciana and the team had a fantastic run, winning the team Bronze which is a great achievement in such a strong national field.
