On Friday February 23rd, the English Department escorted Year 10 pupils to central London for Poetry Live!, an annual event where poets perform their work for children studying GCSE English Literature.
Engaging talks and performances by renowned poets, including GCSE curriculum figures like Poet Laureate Simon Armitage and former Laureate Carol Ann Duffy, enthralled attendees.
The event invigorated students, sparking newfound enthusiasm for the poets and poetry featured in their lessons.
“I enjoyed the Poetry Live event a lot due to the helpful hints we were give from the chief examiner. I also found it very interesting to hear the poets’ thoughts about their own writing.” Abigail, Year 10
