Congratulations to Upper Sixth pupil and Senior Netball Captain Caroline, who was chosen to be Captain in last weekend’s GDST Select netball match and also named player of the match.

Caroline was nominated by the department for netball trials for the GDST Select team at the end of last academic year.  Initially, each of the 25 GDST schools nominated girls in their senior teams for the GDST Select team. This meant a large number travelled to Northampton High in the summer for the initial trials.  Just 20 girls were invited back to a second selection date in September which were whittled down to a final 12, of which Caroline made the cut.

Last weekend, she travelled to Loughborough University for training, an overnight stay and preparations for the GDST vs Netball Super League Team Loughborough Lightening’s U18 Development Squad.

Being in the squad of twelve is a fantastic achievement, but as we know, only seven start the game. Caroline trained hard to catch the eye of the team coach to be selected for the VII, and managed to not only earn her sport as the starting GA, but to be named Captain as well. The literal pinnacle of the elite!

To be named player of the match on top of all of this was the absolute icing on the cake for what was an amazing weekend for Caroline, and we could not be anymore proud of her and for the manner in which she has represented Bromley High School.

Caroline is our first ever player to be selected for the GDST Select team and we hope that she has set the trail to be the first of many from Bromley High.  Well done to Caroline, we’re so proud of this outstanding achievement.
