The 2024/2025 academic year at Bromley High School was an incredible success, thanks to our dedicated parents, governors, and staff, who provided abundant opportunities for our girls.
Year Highlights
This year saw numerous highlights. Our Celebration of the Arts Festival showcased diverse talents, from rock bands and elocution to a DT and Art exhibition. The Senior School brought Victor Hugo’s Les Misérables to life on stage. We hosted the GDST Junior Sing, uniting nine GDST schools for a day of music. The GDST Sports Rally welcomed athletes from 20 schools for competitions in football, gymnastics, and netball.
In the Junior School, our Digital Leaders hosted their first Techathon for six local schools, fostering technological exploration. “Silver Screen in Motion” celebrated media creativity. We also achieved several Kitemarks for high educational standards, including EDI and Eco-Schools.
Beyond these events, girls dedicated thousands of hours to volunteering and outreach, participated in over 500 sports fixtures, and we have delivered a significant estates project that improved school facilities. We hope you feel your daughters had an extraordinary year and enjoyed seeing their successes.
Shaping Girls’ Education for the Future
As Bromley High School enters its 143rd year, we’re building foundations for the next 143, upholding our legacy as pioneers in girls’ equality and education. Despite seismic shifts in the education sector, we focus on delivering a world-class educational offer, ensuring girls learn without limits. Our agility allows us to invest in our site, girls, and staff. We’re proud of our outstanding leaders and staff who provide excellent pastoral care, academic outcomes, and a highly regarded co-curricular program.
Within the GDST, we’ve created the largest global movement in girls’ education. We firmly believe girls-only settings are vital for the future, with our research and daily practices demonstrating our leadership in prioritizing girls’ needs.
Key Initiatives for Our Girls’ Needs
This year, we launched three significant initiatives:
- Middle School: Recognising the critical 9-13 age range for girls’ development, our Middle School seamlessly links Junior and Senior Schools. This unique offering provides a holistic journey tailored for girls, ensuring a successful transition. Its three pillars – transition, curriculum, and pedagogy – are designed to maximize the benefits of an all-girls environment, leading to more knowledgeable, supported, and empowered girls.
- Girls with SEND: Understanding that most SEND research focuses on boys, we launched Adapt 26, a CPD series for staff. These 26 sessions focused on how girls learn, covering topics like inattentive ADHD support and SEND masking. A highlight was our belonging survey, where 96% of girls (Years 5-13) felt they belonged, a testament to our program. A new neurodiversity hub is being built this summer to further support diverse learning styles.
- Women in Health Initiative: This pioneering initiative reviews curriculums and introduces new academic, co-curricular, and pastoral strands to empower girls with knowledge about their personal health, from menopause to mammograms. The goal is to ensure young women are informed and confident about their bodies and well-being, fostering resilience and self-assurance. Our wellbeing hub at the front of the school physically manifests this holistic approach. Our mission is for each girl to confidently navigate her health and, as a future decision-maker, trailblaze healthcare for women.
Our Strategic Plan: Towards 145
Our girls’ ambitions drive our strategic plan, which prioritizes a girls-first education. Every aspect of this school is designed for girls, their evolving needs, and their future. This is my purpose as Headmistress. Our next strategic plan, Towards 145, builds on the success of “Towards 140,” ensuring we remain cutting-edge and purpose-focused.
Supporting Our Community
Bromley High School thrives on the unwavering support of our parents and the wider community. We continuously seek to enhance facilities and opportunities that directly benefit our pupils, including Transforming Our Sports Facilities, Elevating Music and Arts, and supporting our bursary program for girls who otherwise couldn’t access this education.
Your donation, regardless of size, makes a tangible difference in creating inspiring spaces for our students to flourish:
I wish you all a very happy Summer and look forward to welcoming you back in September.
