It has been a dynamic and impactful few months for our women’s health ambassadors, who have led a programme of monthly talks tackling a wide range of important topics. From Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, ovarian cysts and IVF to PCOS, endometriosis and post-natal depression, these sessions have created space for open, informed and thoughtful conversation for pupils in Year 11 and Sixth Form.
The most recent session was a compelling and carefully researched talk delivered by Maya (Year 12) on the important subject of post-natal depression. Speaking with clarity and empathy, Maya encouraged her peers to better understand both the condition itself and the wider social and emotional context surrounding it.
Maya shares:
“I did a short presentation on post-natal depression inspired by a YouTuber who suffers with the mental health issue. I wanted to understand more about why it happens and why women are so vulnerable to it.”
Through the monthly talks and on-going discussions, our women’s health ambassadors are playing a vital role in breaking down stigma, promoting awareness and fostering a culture of openness and support.
Maya added: “I enjoy being a women’s health ambassador because in my opinion everyone needs to have more open conversations about women’s bodies to reduce stigma and amplify knowledge and awareness.”
A huge thank you to all of our women’s health ambassadors and staff for their commitment to driving these important conversations forward.
