A total of 111 students from Years 9, 10 and 11 took part in the UKMT Intermediate Mathematical Challenge 2025, a competition primarily aimed at Year 9 to 11 students.

The challenge consisted of a set of demanding and thought-provoking mathematical problems that tested students’ problem-solving skills and ability to think critically under time pressure. 48 students were awarded certificates for their exceptional performance, including gold certificates for Year 11 pupils Alisha and Year 9 pupil Bella, who both achieved the highest scores in the school. Bella’s performance also earned her automatic progression to the follow-on Intermediate Kangaroo paper in March.

This year’s challenge was particularly tough, with a wide variety of problems that required both creativity and strong mathematical knowledge. Huge congratulations to all the students who participated and demonstrated such resilience in tackling this challenging collection of questions. A special well done to those who received certificates for their impressive achievements!
