Last Friday we were delighted to welcome pupils, parents, staff, and our guest speaker Psychological Skills Mentor Dean Coomer at the annual Sports Dinner, celebrating another great year of dedication and commitment to senior sport and dance at Bromley High School.
Guest speaker Dean Coomer is an experienced Psychological Skills Mentor, working with chief executive officers, elite sports players, specialist Military units including medical services, and several individuals and teams presenting with a range of diverse issues and needs. In his speech, he discussed the techniques he uses to improve sporting performance, including those he currently uses to help the GB Taekwondo squad prepare for Paris 2024.
Evie Davis who was awarded the Hancock Trophy for Swimming said, “Our last event of the season was the Bath and Otter Cup which took place at the London Olympic pool. This meet has some of the hardest competition of the season as we went up against some of the best teams in the country. We won both the medley and freestyle relay and set two new national records in doing so. We were excited to receive two new trophies which were much larger than the two shields we won in the same events the year before, and more importantly bigger than the boys trophy and the hockey team.”
“Swimming at school is very much a team event with competitions focusing on the relays. Our success is a result of all of our dedication, hard work and focus over many hours. We appreciate all the PE department’s efforts in supporting swimming, especially Miss B who has lead and organised us for all the events mentioned and we couldn’t have done it with out her.”
Thank you to all our guests for celebrating the girls’ sporting success, and for continuing to support the School. A full list of the award winners is shown below.
“It was a pleasure to celebrate a fantastic year of sport at the Sports Awards Evening along with the girls and their parents. It was a chance to say thank you to them for their commitment as well as a huge thank you to staff and coaches for all their hard work and time. We, the sports department are very proud of what so many of them have achieved this year, both on and off the sports pitches,” Ms Kerry Smith, Director of Sport
