The GDST LEAD team met their mentors today at an online bootcamp run by LSE Generate, the enterprise arm of the London School of Economics.
The GDST LEAD elective provides our Sixth Formers with the opportunity to take part in a charitable initiative in which they gain and develop new skills and bring an entrepreneurial project to fruition. The leadership programme is also accredited by the LSE.
They heard from a range of inspirational speakers, including Baroness Minouche Shafik, Director of London School of Economics and former Deputy Governor of the Bank of England; actor Josie Rattigan; and philanthropist Milan Khosla, amongst others. The day was originally planned as a live event at LSE, but sweet treats delivered courtesy of The Happy Bakery, a start-up founded by LSE alumna Chardee Ezadkhasty, cheered them up!
Team members chose their favourite UNSDGs (United Nations Sustainable Development Goals), to get themselves thinking about their values and what is important to them as they start to establish their business ideas and practices. They had a chance to practice their presentation skills in a Challenge Showdown, practice Power Postures and even took some time for meditation with Jane Murray of Peacebeam.
