Seven groups of Year 11 pupils successfully completed their Silver Duke of Edinburgh qualifying expedition near Canterbury.
After having already completed a three-day practice expedition on the South Downs in September, the groups were feeling well-prepared and keen to demonstrate good navigational skills to their assessors. The unusually warm and sunny days were a stark contrast to the very chilly nights, and most groups were very glad that they had packed warm clothes.
Cooking over a Trangia is not the easiest skill to master, but there were some much more adventurous meals this time. The two evening campfires with roasted marshmallows were very popular, as was a surprise birthday cake, and there was a lovely atmosphere of teamwork and good spirits throughout the three-day expedition.
Well done to all of the pupils who participated!
