Pupils taking part in the Silver Duke of Edinburgh set off at the early hour of 6am last Friday, filled with nervous excitement.
On arrival at the New Forest they split into groups and were briefed by the assessors. The first day entailed bogs and rivers, forests and fields, but luckily, very few hills. Saturday morning involved walking through open fields in the morning and shadier forests in the afternoon, which they were thankful for given the unusually strong sun for October. On the final day, the group set off on routes through woodland once again, meeting at checkpoints.
“We ended the final day at a café with ice cream to finish off what was a brilliant experience for all the students. We were all very grateful to the staff who gave up their weekends to take us on this trip. “Darcey, Year 11 pupil
