Our senior 1st netball team embarked on a fantastic day of inter-schools Kent County qualifiers earlier this week. The squad of ten came together and stormed through the qualifiers winning six out of six games against some top competition.
The day of games began with Dartford Grammar, their toughest and most physical game – the squad remained calm under immense pressure and secured the win 11-9. The day continued with a win against Kent college, 18-3, followed by Sevenoaks – an extremely fast-paced and competitive game, securing the win 14-5, with Susannah flying through with an interception when the first whistle blew, putting them on the back foot from the offset. St Joseph Mathematical School was the next game, achieving the win 17-3, with some fantastic shooting on display.
The girls then had a long lunch break after the first four games, allowing the squad time to re-gather and refocus for their two toughest matches yet to come. Knowing the importance of winning the next game, the team showed up to court with the intent to win. They stuck to their game plan, and executed it to perfection, winning the game 16-7, meaning the team had qualified for the county finals. After what had been such a long, toughly contested day, their last game against Walthamstow Hall was close, with some great netball played. Although the scoreline was tight, the girls continued to trust the process, and were clinical in attack, securing the win 11-8.
Huge congratulations to the team and good luck at the finals on November 27th.
"What an incredible day it was, the squad came together and worked so hard. I could not be prouder of their calmness and determination throughout the day. Everyone took ownership of their role on court and executed it to the best of their ability. The squad united and came together to play some incredible netball. A massive thank you to Mrs Clemens and Mrs Corps who believed in us from the beginning and motivated the squad."
