Congratulations to our senior hockey 1st team who won the U18 Hockey County Finals at Sevenoaks School earlier this week.
The team started the day with a game against Cranbrook where they drew 0-0 with a solid defence. The girls then played St Dunstan’s and won 6-0 by taking their chances in the attacking D and passing well around the defence. Their 3rd game against King’s Canterbury resulted in a wonderful 7-0. The team’s final game in the pool was a tight game against Ashford which ended with a 1-0 win, thanks to a goal from Amelie in the last 20 seconds of the game.
After winning their pool the team was up against 4th place in the other pool where they played Beneden winning with a huge score of 5-0. This took them through to the semi finals where they played Sevenoaks in a close game, but coming out with a 1-0 win with an excellent goal from Amelie.
In the final match, they were up against Cranbrook again and in a tight game where they fought well for every ball they came out with a 0-0 draw after full time and it went down to penalty flicks where Rita made two amazing saves and Amelie, Alice and Poppy scored their flicks making it a 3-2 win.
“The defence were solid throughout the tournament keeping the shots at goal at a minimum. Overall everyone played very well and we ended with 20 goals scored and 0 conceded with the goal scorers Amelie, Poppy, Sofia, Jemma and Lily, with some amazing assists from Sasha getting past many players all the way up the pitch and always getting back to defend.” Alice, Year 13
