Earlier this week, our 1st XI hockey competed in the England Hockey School Championships under 18 hockey regional finals at Caterham School.
They started the day well with a game against Croydon High School, winning 4-0 with two goals from Amelie, one from Poppy and one from Jemma.
Their second match was against Caterham School where they won 1-0, with a great rebound goal from Olivia in a very tight game. They all worked hard and fought well to the end, with a great save from Rita in the final minutes securing the win.
The final game was against Cranbrook School where they also won 1-0, with a great goal from Amelie in the second half.
These three wins have secured the team a place at the National Finals in February. Congratulations to all the players!
“Our determination throughout the day helped us when we weren’t playing our best. Keeping a clean sheet all day was down to a solid defense with some great tackles from Susannah and Evie, as well as amazing saves from Rita. Our outletting improved throughout the day which opened up some amazing scoring opportunities. We ended up scoring six goals and conceding none, with goal scorers, Amelie, Poppy and Jemma, with some amazing assists from Sasha throughout the day.” Alice, Year 13 pupil & Team Captain
