Being a part of our Junior School Open Event last Saturday was truly awe inspiring. The way in which the teams came together meant that we were able to demonstrate our school at its best.
From the estates staff, teachers, admissions through to marketing, everyone was pulling together in the same direction. The power of the collective to achieve something amazing was wonderful to witness and, whilst I am still very new to the school, it really made me feel a strong sense of belonging.
As always, the girls were our most incredible ambassadors. Our house captains presented confidently as they articulated their narrative to our parents and the girls on tour were able to answer any questions they were asked in a clear and compelling manner. Feedback from our visitors was beyond complimentary when it came to describing their interactions with our girls and the sense of pride we all felt was immense. Thank you to all of those involved with the day.
As a new member of the team, building new relationships is essential. Perhaps the most important aspect of that is creating trust. In ‘The Speed of Trust’ by Stephen Covey, he writes that trust underpins kindness and that it means confidence. Put simply, ‘you know it when you feel it’. As we prepare for our Senior School Open Day, I know that I can wholly trust the staff who are involved, as they all want the absolute best for the school and our girls.
This morning, observing the girls practicing for our Open Day and their assertion as they take on the leadership of presenting subject areas, is yet another testament to their character development at Bromley High. As Billy-Jean King reflected, from her experiences ‘girls are taught to be perfect, boys to be brave’. At Bromley High, our girls pursue both excellence and courage as they put themselves into the spot-light, ready to share their positive experiences from our school.
I continue to enjoy meeting with stakeholders and all conversations are informing our ‘Towards 140’ strategy. I look forward to coming out to you in the coming months with some of our next steps in Bromley.
