Year 10 pupils attended the London Girls Maths Outreach Event held by the Department of Mathematics at Imperial College London to find out more about studying Maths at A-level and degree level.
The event gave an insight to the world of Maths, providing the pupils with examples of how it can be applied to real life situations and inspiring young women study Maths at university.
Pupils attended talks with admissions tutor Dr Charlotte Kestner from Imperial College London who has a PhD in Model Theory. They also heard from a panel of undergraduate and PhD female Maths scholars which included a Q&A session, and attended a ‘Fun Maths’ workshop.
“I really enjoyed the Imperial College event. It definitely opened my eyes to the different subjects that are important for studying Maths at A-level, in order to get into great universities. It also gave me a good insight into university life for all subjects, as well as the potential jobs and opportunities in Maths.” Louise, Year 10
