Last week, two Philosophy & Theology A level students had the opportunity to attend a thought-provoking talk titled The Mystery of Morality at The Royal Institution.

The event offered deeper insight into how clear, logical arguments are constructed – an essential skill for A level studies. The talk explored key ethical concepts while also introducing new and challenging ideas that expanded on their classroom learning. The students also had the opportunity to hear from renowned scholars Peter Singer and Richard Swinburne, both of whom are central figures in their philosophy curriculum. Meeting such influential thinkers in person made the experience even more inspiring, reinforcing the students’ understanding and enthusiasm for the subject.

“A highlight of the evening was meeting Alex O’Connor, a YouTuber and modern-day philosopher whose content we regularly use to consolidate our learning. We especially appreciated the way each viewpoint was presented with clarity, balance, and a strong understanding of alternative perspectives, making for a thoroughly engaging and intellectually stimulating discussion.”Sophia & Emily, A level students
