On Thursday 9th September, we formally opened our new stunning Junior School building with an afternoon of speeches, pupil performances and pupil-led tours.
We were delighted to welcome our guest of honour, Pauline Emburey, former Chair of Governors who unveiled the plaque, as well as the GDST Chief Executive, Cheryl Giovannoni.
Year 6 opened the ceremony, performing the GDST song ‘Into the Light’ by Lin Marsh and Year 5 also performed the Bromley High School song. Year 6 pupil Nirvana performed a wonderful musical interlude on the violin.
In her speech, Headmistress Angela Drew said: “Great schools thrive on change and today we are privileged to witness a transformational change visibly embodied all around us in this beautiful light filled building.”
Mrs Claire Dickerson, Head of Bromley High Junior School said: “With learning at the heart of all the design decision-making, our Junior School building is transformed. Our girls and staff are thrilled to be working in new open learning spaces with an abundance of natural light spaces which embrace the panoramic views of our extensive green and vibrant grounds, bringing the outdoors inside.”
In her closing speech, the CEO of the GDST spoke about preparing girls for the future, referencing the World Economic Forum skills for the future. She thanked everyone involved in the new Junior School building for their dedication and perseverance, especially during a difficult 18 months due to the pandemic.
