On Monday 13th October, our Middle School Think it Out project launched with a burst of energy and enthusiasm. The project designed specifically with girls in mind, aims to encourage thoughtful discussion, collaboration and connection across the Middle School.
The launch began with a lively emoji-based skincare brand challenge, which had the girls laughing, brainstorming and working creatively across pastoral groups. This was followed by pupils from Years 5 to 8 working together to debate:
Is it ethical for beauty companies to sell anti-ageing products to teenage girls?
The girls challenged industry motives and reflected on the pressures young people face today. There were insightful comments such as:
“They just want money and don’t care who buys it”
The launch highlighted the girls awareness of media influence and the impact on self-image and confidence.
“Young skin doesn’t need it – it could do more harm than good”
The Think it Out Project will continue collaboration and critical thinking with girls across year groups in the Junior and Senior School.
One Year 6 pupil commented about the day:
“It was so much fun and really made me think.”
