To mark International Women’s Day, Bromley High School welcomed a number of inspiring alumnae and friends to school throughout the week to share their experiences, career journeys and perspectives with our pupils.
We were delighted to hear from professionals across a range of fields. Amelia Clapham spoke about how music therapy can give a voice to those who may struggle to communicate due to illness or injury. Lisa Macchiavello gave pupils an insight into her work supporting individuals who have suffered injuries, explaining how the law helps people understand their rights and seek justice.
We also welcomed Dasha Veysey, who shared her journey from Bromley High School to a career in user research, including her work improving public services such as the council’s “Report It” platform. Hannah Wilkens discussed her path into government law and her work advising departments and contributing to major national cases.
Pupils were also inspired by Dr Aneka Patel, a GP and founder of the award-winning brand AKP Skincare. Drawing on her Indian heritage and the principles of Ayurveda, she explained how she has innovated within the medical and skincare field, reminding pupils that their background and experiences can be one of their greatest strengths.
Across the week, pupils had the opportunity to ask questions, explore different career pathways and reflect on themes of Rights, Justice and Action. We are very grateful to all our speakers for sharing their time and experiences with our pupils and helping to make this year’s International Women’s Day events so meaningful.
