Congratulations to Year 10 pupils Darcey and Ellen for reaching 26th position out of 56 in the International Competition for Young Debaters Finals hosted by Cambridge University. It is a wonderful achievement to be placed in the top half of the table, given the stiff competition and experience of the British and international teams.
The motions in these debates were interesting yet challenging, including This House Prefers a World, where Post Covid-19, Work from Home Arrangements Remain the Norm, and This House Believes That the United States of America Should Pursue a Policy of Collaboration rather than Confrontation with Russia, where they were placed first.
“Both Darcey and I found the experience extremely enjoyable, although stressful and tense at times. We are incredibly pleased with our success on behalf of Bromley High and thank Dr Christie for putting us forward and training us in the Debating Society.” Ellen, Year 10
