This week is GDST Junior STEAM Maths and Art Week, celebrating the beauty of the joining of Mathematics and Art.

Junior pupils from GDST schools across the UK took part in a selection of activities looking at the patterns and the wonders of Maths, including Escher inspired tessellations. Today our Year 6 pupils explored Escher and the Platonic solids. In the exciting session they researched platonic solids and how Escher’s repeating patterns can cover the platonic solids.

“Creating the platonic solids was very frustrating but once I figured it out and persevered, I felt proud of my achievement.”Anvesha, Year 6

“Investigating Escher’s infinity triangles was really interesting and I enjoyed seeing how small I could get the triangles.”Leyla, Year 6
