Over 80 pupils in Years 7 to 9 from GDST schools came together for the three-round GDST Junior Debating Competition, which took place virtually.

Year 8 pupils Abigail and Anya took part in the online competition alongside Year 9 pupils Gulsen and Jess.  Some of the motions in this competition included ‘THW return cultural artefacts to their country of origin’ and ‘THB that the rise of cheerleading would be a step forward for feminism’.

Congratulations to Gulsen to Jess who reached the Open and Novice Gold Finals.

“After three rounds of resilience and perseverance, reaching the Finals was such an honour for both me and my partner. We were tuckered but also very proud Bromley High debaters by the end of it.” Gulsen, Year 9

“Gulsen and I came third in our first debate but bounced back and won the next 2 rounds, which then got us into the Finals. This was very exciting as it was my first debating competition, it was a great experience and I’d love to do it again.” Jess, Year 9
