Last Friday, pupils at Bromley High School took part in a hands-on photography workshop led by fine art photographer Emily June Smith.
During the session, students explored images from both their family archives and the school archive, learning how to select and reinterpret these photographs to create highly personal artworks.
The workshop encouraged pupils to think critically and creatively about the stories behind each image. They were guided in developing meaningful concepts, experimenting with composition, perspective, and narrative, and reflecting on how memories and personal history can inform artistic expression.
Throughout the day, students exercised their creativity, resilience, and problem-solving skills, embracing challenges with enthusiasm and curiosity. The resulting artworks demonstrated a wide range of approaches and styles, each reflecting the individuality of the student behind it. The session was a vibrant celebration of personal storytelling through photography, leaving both students and staff inspired by the power of visual art to capture memory and emotion.
