Last Saturday saw the return of the annual Dulwich Schools’ Debating tournament, with a number of top schools across London taking part.

Three Sixth Formers (Sophie, Aimee and Darcey), four Year 11 students (Aria, Shreya, Avani and Eleanor) and one Year 10 student (Fifi) competed in the first debating competition of the season against pupils from South Hampstead High School, Harrow School, St Paul’s Girls’ School, St Paul’s School, Wellington College, Eton College, Bromley High School, King’s College School Wimbledon, Latymer Upper School, and Tonbridge High School.

It was an excellent and enjoyable day of debating, with Bromley’s third team placing 9th and finishing ahead of traditionally strong debating schools such as Harrow, Dulwich, Westminster and Tonbridge. Several of our teams also received personal commendations from the judges for their elocution and ability.

Aria was our top speaker, finishing joint 13th out of 90 speakers in total.  Congratulations to our debaters and good luck for the rest of the season.
