Two teams of Year 5 and 6 Digital Leaders travelled to Sydenham High School to take part in the GDST Robotics Competition.
They competed against six other GDST schools in a series of exciting challenges, including balloon-popping robot wars, obstacle courses, a straight-line speed test and a line-following challenge.
“We had a great time at Sydenham High School competing in all the challenges. Though we had a few hiccups we collaborated to fix them and came third and fourth! We met many other schools and got to take part in a variety of different challenges, such as an obstacle course and a balloon battle. We had to think critically and problem solve when things didn’t go to plan. Overall it was a brilliant day!”Amaya, Year 6 pupil
It was a closely contested competition, and both teams achieved excellent results, placing third and fourth overall. As a reward, they received a Micro:Bit bricks pack to build their own robot models.
The Digital Leaders look forward to putting these to good use in their upcoming sessions.
“I loved exploring and learning all about how to improve our team robots. It was a special experience that will stay with me forever.”Nayela, Year 5 pupils
