The Bromley High School Debating Society repeated the success of last year and once again won multiple accolades at the GDST Debating Competition 2026. This competition traditionally marks the end of the debating season for the year, and it is wonderful that the pupils have once again concluded the season on a high.

From pupils judges to novice debaters to seasoned veterans, this year’s competition involved a significant proportion of our talented young debaters who were very keen to do the school proud, which they more than accomplished.

Year 8 pupils Roza and Zara qualified for the Silver Novice Final in their first ever debating competition, while Year 9 novices Lydia and Orla did so well that they bypassed the Novice Final altogether to enter the Silver Open Final. Navya and Maria from Year 9 were ultimately victorious in the Silver Open Final and took the win, beating some of the strongest debating schools in attendance. English Scholar Imogen represented Bromley High School as our school’s very first pupil judge in the Senior stream, and did so well that she was invited to judge the Senior Gold Final alongside experienced adjudicators.

We are extremely proud of our pupils, and we look forward to another exciting year ahead.
