Last week, the school held a number of exciting events to celebrate International Women’s Day, a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.
Celebrations for the week kicked off on Monday with a whole school assembly, where various speakers discussed their experience of celebrating International Women’s Day and what it means to them. Pupils also spoke about inspiring female role models which included various girls in the Sixth Form.
On Tuesday 8th March, as part of International Women’s Day the school held an own clothes day for Sixth Form pupils. Following this year’s theme #breakthebias, pupils dressed in a non-stereotypical feminine manner, donating sanitary products to the Bromley Hygiene Bank to support families that suffer from period poverty.
On Wednesday, the school successfully held a bake sale to raise money for charity Womenkind Worldwide, a global women’s rights organisation. Womankind Worldwide strengthens and supports womens’ rights organisations and movements, with the resources they need to challenge oppression and change the lives of women, in the home, the workplace and the communities they live in. By helping women, the charity can contribute towards ending all forms of violence to women and girls, and advance women’s economic rights.
Thank you to the Bromley High Diversity Committee (pictured below) for organising these fantastic activities for the week, and raising money for such worthwhile causes.
