We are thrilled to share that Bromley High Junior School has been awarded the prestigious Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) Gold Mark for the second time.
Assessed every two years to ensure the highest standards, this award highlights our ongoing commitment to delivering fun, memorable and motivating outdoor experiences across every subject. We are particularly proud to be the only school in South East London currently to hold this recognition, further reflecting the strength of our outdoor learning provision.
Outdoor learning is woven throughout our curriculum, whether we are utilising our indoor spaces creatively, exploring our extensive grounds, welcoming visiting experts or going on educational trips.
Ms Shearman, Outdoor Learning and Forest School Leader, said, “To give a glimpse of a typical morning, today one class was out in the fresh air using the grounds to inspire vivid poetry, while over on the playground, another class was enthusiastically exploring place value using large-scale chalk markings.”
She added, “Taking learning beyond the classroom not only makes academic concepts far more memorable, but it is also fantastic for boosting girls’ emotional wellbeing, self-confidence and social collaboration skills.”
The LOtC assessor described the school’s provision as genuinely ‘impressive’, which is a wonderful testament to the dedication and hard work of our staff.
