Gold Green Tree Schools Award from the Woodland Trust
Bromley High Junior School has achieved the Gold Green Tree Schools Award from the Woodland Trust! This marks the result of several years of nature-based learning, with pupils taking part in activities such as tree planting, wildlife exploration and learning how to care for the environment.
These experiences have encouraged pupils to become more environmentally aware, develop an interest in nature and understand how they can make a positive impact. Time spent outdoors has also supported their emotional wellbeing, while helping them grow personally and develop important social skills.
We are also delighted that the Junior school holds the Gold Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) Mark, making us the only school in our area with this prestigious status. This award recognises our school’s clear and ongoing commitment to providing wide-ranging learning experiences beyond the classroom — from educational visits and residential trips to workshops with visitors, forest school sessions and community projects. We are continuing to build and strengthen our LOtC provision ahead of our renewal in summer 2026.
Year 1 Adventures in Forest School
As part of our nature based curriculum Year 1 pupils embraced the great outdoors with enthusiasm and creativity this term. They have enjoyed exploring Forest School, where imagination and adventure come to life. Pupils have been palm drilling, building dens with sticks and natural materials, digging in the earth and whipping up masterpieces in the mud kitchen.
It has been wonderful to see their confidence, teamwork, and curiosity grow as they discover the wonders of nature.
