Today Bromley High School hosted an inaugural U11 girls football festival, celebrating the return of competitive sport after such a long time spent on the sidelines due to the pandemic.

Our U11 A & B football teams put on a fantastic display of football and sportsmanship throughout the tournament which involved 16 teams from other local junior schools. Bromley High’s A team won their group, progressing through to the cup quarter final. Our B team qualified for the Plate competition after finishing 3rd in their group. As both teams progressed to the knock out stage of the tournament, they stepped up their game and desire to play even harder and faster, both teams demonstrating fantastic progress from one match to the next.

Bromley High won their quarter final 1-0 against a very defensive Edgebury School, moving on to face a very strong Wickham Common team in the Semi Finals. Despite a close game, Bromley A’s conceded a goal and couldn’t get the equaliser before time was up. Bromley High’s  B team won both the quarter final and semi final 2-0, progressing to the Plate final in style. For the final, they were up against tough opposition in Farnborough School who were strong in attack and solid in defense. They lost the game but finished runners up of the Plate competition.

We are extremely proud of how the girls represented themselves as they approached each game with determination and excellent team work.

We look forward to this event becoming an annual part of the calendar, supporting our football development and continuing to provide competitive opportunities within the Junior School.
