Year 12 Business students had the exciting opportunity to attend a school trip to Wimbledon, the oldest and most prestigious tennis tournament club in the world.

They explored the heritage, traditions, and behind-the-scenes workings of one of the most iconic sporting venues, alongside peers from Northwood and Sydenham GDST Business and Economics departments.

The visit began with a lesson on how Wimbledon maintains its values while preparing for the Championships each year. Students learned how the organisers carefully balance tradition with modern marketing, selecting sponsors that reflect the tournament’s prestige. The session offered valuable insight into the year-round preparation required and the dedication of every department involved.

Students also took part in an interactive budgeting task, helping Wimbledon explore ways to become more sustainable. A tour of the museum provided further understanding of the tournament’s history, including its commitment to the all-white dress code and the continued use of grass courts.

“The highlight of the trip was the tour of the courts themselves. The guide showed the group the iconic Centre Court and Court No. 1, which was especially memorable due to their global significance in hosting the Wimbledon Championships.”Lucia, Year 12 Business Student

“The trip made me realise that Wimbledon is about more than just tennis – it offers a wide range of job opportunities.”Gulsen, Year 12 Business Student
