In Year 1 and Year 2 we build on the firm foundations set in Early Years with an emphasis on the girls being active participants in their learning. We embed the key skills of reading, writing and mathematics, which help the girls to explore other subjects effectively and creatively.
Meet our Year 2 pupils
Class teachers, supported by teaching assistants, introduce termly cross-curricular topics to make connections between subjects, thus capturing the girls’ imaginations. Much use is made of the local area, with trips and visitors playing an integral part in learning.
Curriculum
As an all-through school, we have a wealth of expertise to draw upon to create an outstanding curriculum. Girls continue to enjoy the benefit of having weekly lessons with subject specialists for computing (double lesson), French, music and PE (games and gymnastics, with early athletics and tennis skills in the summer term).
The Prep curriculum comprises Art, Computing, Design Technology, English, French, Geography, History, Mathematics, Music, PSHE, RE, Science and Physical Education.
Highlights
- Cross-curricular links made between curriculum subjects where possible
- Regular class visits to local museums and places of interest
- Specialist teaching for modern languages, music and PE
- Lunchtime and after-school clubs and activities
"We cannot recommend Bromley High School enough to prospective families. Seeing our daughter skip out of school each day, and then super eager to return the next day, gives us the comfort as parents to know that we made the right decision for her."
