2020 was challenging with various lockdowns and the implications on children’s learning, but with many pools being closed for nearly a year, many children are leaving school swimming illiterate.
Bromley High School has been offering top-up swimming for more than a decade to Year 5 and 6 pupils who are unable to swim 25m, the target set by The National Curriculum for pupils leaving primary school.
Each year, over 100 ten and eleven year old’s attend the intensive week of swimming. The highly experienced teaching team is headed up by Lorna Crust, Founder of Aquakids Swim School.
This year, Bromley High School is proud to support the top-up swimming classes by providing the pool free of charge.
"It is a hugely important week as the 10 and 11 years old's have never attended a swim school such as Aquakids, where the average age of non-swimmers is 5 years. We are very grateful for all the help and funding from Bromley High School."
